Yes, the debtor will get an option to make the part payment.
What name should be used to register for smart collect? Accountant's
Name or the owner's name?
As it is a Virtual Account registration, it is advisable to register the owner's name.
If a company has already bought a Tally Prime license and so does the company have to register for Smart Collect again?
Yes, they have to register again because Smart Collect and Tally Prime licenses are different.
Can I use my VA account to fill out the NEFT / RTGS form?
Yes, the VA account can be used to fill out NEFT / RTGS form.
When are the transaction details updated? does it happen on the same day or after the amount is credited to the account?
The transaction details get updated on the same day the debtor makes the payment, that is instantly.
Will Smart Collect work similarly if the client pays in foreign currency?
No, the current solution does not support foreign transaction.
If the client pays a single amount but for different work like half payment for a service and other for a product, will Smart Collect still be useful for the company?
Smart Collect will assist us in collecting payments from the customers and automatically posting transaction details in Tally. Accurate accounting effects can be provided by the accounts team.
Do we need to add the narration manually?
The system will capture transaction details and update them in Tally. However, any additional information or transaction background needs to be updated by the accounts team only.
If the client makes the payment, how to check if the payment went through successfully?
The transaction details will be instantly updated in Tally.
Can I use multiple bank accounts to accept the payment?
Yes, you can use multiple bank accounts to accept the payment.
How is our payment solution different from HDFC and ICICI bank's payment solutions as both offer the same thing which integrates with Tally?
HDFC and ICICI offer their payment solution to their current account holders only. While Smart Collect can work with any bank. You are not required to open a bank account with any bank in order to use Smart Collect.
If the payment is made by someone other than the debtor, will the payment still reflect in the Tally?
No, only VA account holders can use this system to make payments.
Instead of T+1, can I have the money deposited into my account the same day?
Yes. it can be deposited on the same day. There are 2 options:
T+1 - There are no transaction fees and the amount gets credited on the next working day.
Same-day - There will be a fee per transaction and the amount gets credited on the same day.
If the same client is available in different states and pays for all invoices in one go, how will that be adjusted?
There are 2 choices:
- Having a single VA account for multiple locations. The transaction details will be updated in a single VA account, and the accounting effects will be provided by the Accounts team.
- Separate VA accounts for separate locations. Transaction information will be recorded in the appropriate VA accounts.
Can we change the bank details linked with our solution?
Yes, we can change the bank details. For this you need to contact our support desk and help us with the cancelled cheque.
When does auto bank reconciliation happen?
The date required for auto bank reconcilation will be decided based on the settlement day.
- T+1 settlement - It will take place on the next working day.
- Same day settlement - It will take place that very same day.

Does the existing customer need to create a new ledger for VA number tagging?
No, the existing customer doesn't need to create a new ledger for VA number tagging.
Can our solution do TDS entries / any Deductions as well?
No, the accounts team will have to do it manually.
Do we have to create VA number again and again?
No, it's a one-time activity. It's a Virtual account number. Once it is created, it's done.
I am making payment from the IDFC Mobile App, but the payment is not reflected in the Tally; why is that?
It currently takes time to analyse the transaction.
No matter what payment method is used, it shows the payment method as NEFT only why is that?
Tally, by default, treats all online payments as NEFT only. For that, you need to click on the Smart Collect tab through Tally, and there you can see the exact payment mode used by the debtor.
Multiple attempts were made to scan the QR code, but still no luck; why is that?
Sometimes, the bank's server goes under maintenance. This may happen if the receiver's or the payer's bank is under maintenance.
Can our solution be linked to a CC (Cash Credit) account?
Yes, our solution will work fine with the CC account.
Can I use my VA account to deposit the cheque?
No, the VA account cannot be used to deposit cheques. You must use a current or overdraft account for that.
If the client ends up paying twice due to the bank's server issue and the amount gets debited twice, what to do?
If the payment was made twice then the transaction details will get updated in Tally & then the receiver can issue the refund to the debtor.
